Meet Our Staff:
Chet is a Certified Public Accountant with over 23 years of experience working with individuals, as well as small and large businesses assisting them with their financial, accounting, and tax needs. Chet began his career in the Atlanta office of Price Waterhouse (now Price Waterhouse Coopers) and spent over five years in the audit and assurance practice serving businesses throughout the Southeast. After leaving PWC, Chet spent the next fifteen years in various finance positions with Atlanta companies, serving in the roles of Controller, VP of Finance and Chief Financial Officer. In January 2008, Chet fulfilled his desire to return to public accounting and joined the firm of Lewis & Company and most recently became the Managing Partner of the firm which is now known as Burge & Associates, PC.
Chet is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a graduate of Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC with a bachelors degree in accounting. Chet, his wife Lee Beth, and their four children are longtime residents of Decatur, GA where they are very active in their church, local schools and community.
Chad is a Certified Public Accountant with over 10 years of experience in taxation. Chad has assisted individuals, as well as small and large businesses with tax and accounting related matters. Prior to joining Burge & Associates in early 2016, he worked in Raleigh and Miami with a large regional public accounting firm. Chad is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 2004. Prior to starting his career in public accounting, Chad spent three years living and working in China.
Karen is a Certified Public Accountant with over 25 years of experience working with small businesses and individuals on their tax needs. Karen began her career at Ernst & Young in Atlanta, working with owner operated companies in their Entrepreneurial Tax Consulting and Compliance practice. When she left public accounting to raise her family, she took over the bookkeeping of several family owned real estate businesses. She is currently the CFO of six family entities, managing bookkeeping, cash flow, payroll and taxes. Karen joined Burge & Associates in February 2015 as a seasonal tax preparer.
Karen is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. She is a graduate of the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (BBA) and a Masters of Accountancy in Tax (MAcc-Tax). Karen and her family live in Dunwoody, GA where they are active in their church youth music programs and scouting.
Lucas Bradstreet, EA, CPA - Tax Manager
Lucas graduated from Bob Jones University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Upon his graduation in 2011, he joined the firm as a staff accountant. During his time at B&A, he has excelled in both fields of tax and audit, with a significant focus on individual and corporate taxation. He is also highly proficient in payroll reporting and compliance requirements. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs. Lucas and his wife, Cristina, live in Decatur, GA where they enjoy the many restaurants and walkable space Decatur has to offer.
Joe is originally from the Midwest and moved to Georgia after graduating from the University of Iowa in 2017. In school, he double majored in Accounting and Finance with a minor in Philosophy, and he has a background in bookkeeping, billing, and tax preparation. He plans to start studying for the CPA exam in 2019. Outside of Tax, Joe likes lifting weights, sports, and he enjoys eating at Decatur’s many restaurants.
Sharon joined Burge & Associates in 2018 as a tax preparer. Her road to accounting was not typical as she spent the last 30 years as a teacher. In her “second act,” she studied Financial Accounting and Individual Income Tax and found a perfect match with the detail and organization required in tax preparation. Sharon and her husband lived in the Atlanta area, but currently reside in Cypress, Texas. They have a daughter at Texas A&M and a son who hopes to join her there in another year.
Jason is an Atlanta-native with over 10 years of experience in small business accounting. He received his undergraduate from Presbyterian College in 2004. Immediately after graduation, he joined a small accounting firm where he received experience in payroll processing, payroll tax, sales tax and excise tax. Jason’s specialty is in restaurant accounting but enjoys any and all small business accounting. He is currently working on his Master’s in Accounting and Financial Management and plans to sit for the CPA exam in 2017. Jason and his wife, Amanda, currently live in Gwinnett County. Together they share a son, Andrew.
Sarah joined Burge & Associates as the firm administrator in August 2010. Sarah worked as an independent bookkeeper for 10 years working with a wide range of small businesses and non-profits before joining the team. In 2013 she was promoted to staff accountant and to senior staff accountant in 2015, and now manages the firm's growing bookkeeping practice. She is a Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor and enjoys using her skills to help the firm's many clients. Sarah graduated from Georgia College & State University's Honors & Scholars Program in 2000, and is pursuing an additional accounting degree from Georgia State University and her CPA license. She currently lives on Atlanta's resurgent Westside where she is active in her church and neighborhood. She is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs.
Ramon is a Decatur native with over 12 years of bookkeeping experience. He is a graduate of The University of Georgia, Michigan State University, and Kennesaw State University; where at the latter he completed his MBA focusing on accounting and finance courses. Before joining Burge & Associates, Ramon worked for almost 7 years for an airport concessonaire preparing financials for various restaurant franchises. Away from the office Ramon is an avid sports fan, and also enjoys traveling and cooking with his wife, Amanda.
Steve comes from a background of unlikely combined experience, including residential subcontracting, building and warehouse management, small business ownership, and bookkeeping. His experience in many fields has made him a well-rounded professional who balances attention to detail and a hard work ethic with a consultative touch. He is currently enrolled in courses to complete his accounting degree. Steve and his wife Rachel celebrated the birth of their first child last year. Other interests include home renovation and spending time with his family.
Daisy is a California native who has put down roots in Decatur since moving to Georgia in 2007. She is a graduate of Boston University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Daisy comes to Burge & Associates with a background in hospitality and customer service, which she hopes to use to best serve the clients of B&A while she pursues her MBA. Away from the office, Daisy enjoys sewing, working with local charities, and exploring Decatur with her dogs.
Kristy joined Burge & Associates in August 2017 after moving back home to Georgia from Nashville. With a background in administration and office management, Kristy is excited to start focusing on a career in accounting. Outside of the office, Kristy enjoys reading mystery books, snuggling with her dog Rocky, and spending time with her husband Scott.
Heather joined Burge & Associates in February 2015, returning home to Atlanta after 15 years working as a financial professional in the San Francisco Bay Area. She began her career as an independent bookkeeper and in 2007 she transitioned into non-profit accounting at the Institute on Aging. There she acted as private trustee, executor, power of attorney for finance, and court appointed conservator; in 2010 she sat for the state and national exams and became a National Certified Guardian and CA Licensed Professional Fiduciary. She is excited to be working in public accounting with Burge & Associates and is currently pursuing an advanced degree.
Ayana joined Burge & Associates in July 2016. She moved from New Jersey in 2010 to finish high school and in 2015, she graduated from Southern Crescent Technical College with an Associate’s of Applied Science in Accounting. Ayana also holds a Bookkeeper Certification from the National Association of Certified Public Bookkeepers. She is looking to go back to school to further her education in accounting and take the CPA exam in the future. She is very excited about learning and gaining first-hand experience in accounting here at Burge & Associates.
Kerry graduated from the University of Georgia in 2004 with a BBA in Management. She began her career as an executive recruiter, where she observed that a degree in accounting afforded many of her clients a variety of career opportunities. This observation led to her eventual transition to nonprofit bookkeeping. As she gained more experience, she decided to return to school to earn an advanced degree. In 2013, Kerry graduated from Georgia State University with a Masters in Professional Accountancy. Upon graduation, she joined Burge & Associates, where she looks forward to learning firsthand what public accounting has to offer. She is currently studying for the CPA exam and is a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs.
Danielle Ingels - Audit Staff
Danielle graduated from Missouri State University in 2007 with a B.S. in Psychology. After 8 years of working with federal and state grants she returned to school to pursue Accounting. She currently attends Georgia State University where she will graduate in summer 2017. She will then begin working on studying for the CPA exam. When she is not working, you can either find Danielle volunteering at her local animal shelter or spending time with her dog.
Jessica joined Burge & Associates in January 2017. After graduating from university in 2007, she moved overseas to teach college preparatory classes to foreign students. Since returning to the U.S. in 2011, her career has focused on business administration and Human Resources across different industries. Outside of the office, Jessica enjoys traveling, reading non-fiction books, experimenting with new culinary recipes, and caring for her pack of animals (three rescue dogs and one rescue kitten).
After several years of homeschooling her five children, Becky has returned to the workforce. She recently joined Burge & Associates in August 2018. Her previous experience included working in various administrative assistant positions. After living several years in Gwinnett county, she and her husband, Mark, recently moved inside the perimeter and are enjoying all Atlanta has to offer. She enjoys spending time with her family, exercising at the local YMCA, and hiking. She welcomed her first grandchild this year and is enjoying her first experience as grandma.
